The flag of the United States comprises three colors – red, blue and white. While red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white represents purity and innocence. The color blue signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice.
Amid the unrest in our county, Crockett Homes is proud to support the good law enforcement officers who daily risk their lives to protect and serve our communities.
The idea behind the police flag is that law enforcement (the ‘thin blue line’) is what stands between the violence and victimization by criminals and would-be victims of crime. This ‘line’ is what police officers protect…the barrier between anarchy and a civilized society, between order and chaos, between respect for decency and lawlessness. We seek not to politicize this issue or flag but rather to thank those who serve in our communities. Before the flag came the phrase. The idea of a “thin blue line” can be traced all the way back to a 1854 British battle formation, a “thin red line” used during the Crimean War and then popularized in art, poetry and song.
