In 1995, we debuted the 1% Crockett Community Program. This program offers the homeowner a check from Crockett for 1% of the Crockett Shell Materials package to be donated to a non-profit organization in their community. Crockett had just turned the corner of completing 20 years in the log home business and back then our literature stated that “we noticed that people of this country were beginning to identify the importance of domestic issues. We saw riots in the streets and resentment of overseas affairs and foreign products. People were beginning to concentrate on how we can bring this country out of a recession and make it strong again; how we can heal ourselves so we can be in the position to help the rest of the world. People called for a return to the creativity, the ethics, the team work, the trust in small business and in America, and the relationships between and among men and women that made this country strong 50 years ago.
Finally, we can across a word one night that refused to leave our conversations. That word was “community”. We at Crockett are one big community, and we are committed to a
product that is an integral part of the communities in which we live.”
The above statement from our literature in the 1990’s is still applicable today, 25 years later.
